ISO Symphony

The ISO Symphony, ISO’s flagship ensemble, is one of New York’s finest youth orchestras whose members are among the most talented young musicians in the metropolitan area. Admittance is by audition.

The ISO Symphony is led by Jeffrey Grogan, a dynamic and inspiring conductor whose passion is working with young musicians.  Students join for a pre-professional orchestral experience and have received coaching by members of the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and the London Philharmonic, among others.

The ISO Symphony appears annually in major New York City concert halls such as Avery Fisher Hall and Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center and Symphony Space. The orchestra also presents community concerts in neighborhood centers, churches, schools and museums. Membership is by audition only. All ISO Symphony students receive free tuition. There is only a $250 registration fee ($275 if paid after the registration period).

The ISO Symphony Concerto Competition is held each winter and is open to Symphony members who have spent at least one year with the ISO Symphony.
