ISO's Chamber Music Program, for string, wind, and brass players, and pianists,
is open to all orchestra members and non-orchestra members, at all levels of ability.
Rehearsal times and locations are arranged at the convenience of the members of each
group and their coach. All ensembles meet for 20 coached sessions, usually on Mondays or Thursdays
between 4:00 and 8:00 pm at the School of the Blessed Sacrament, 147 West 70th Street.
There is a separate tuition fee. An audition is required
for placement in the Chamber Music Program. |
The goals of the ISO Chamber Music Program are as follows:
- Learn from musicians who have expertise in performing and teaching chamber music.
- Play with other students of equal ability.
- Work on ensemble skills, such as how to improve intonation and follow other musicians.
- Explore musical interpretation.
- Develop sight-reading skills in a supportive and fun environment.
- Learn how to practice more effectively.
- Participate in master classes with great artists.
- Perform chamber music, without a conductor.
- Laugh, we hope, a great deal.
